Halesusan What is Love? This question has occupied humanity throughout time ~ from adolescent wondering to 12th century Troubadour songs to Persian mystic poetry, the magic of love has touched us all.  To ask this questions is part of what it means to be human.  To answer it requires a personal search.  To live from the heart is what we all aspire to and sometimes fall short in our daily habits.
For Saint Francis love was like the caves he explored on Mount Sabasio in Italy: “you entered the dark, cold passageway, and soothing opened up within you.  You seemed to be hibernating in the womb of the mother earth where it was warm and secure and all you could hear was your own breathing, the bird calls and cricket wings outside and the voice of God in your own heart.”  We reach these moments of purity through entering the dark passageways of our lives, through wrestling with angels and demons.  The words in this book are hard won.  They are meant as a light to guide and inspire.  Some might think this presentation to be lofty and impractical.  But the next time you’re feeling lonely and separate or in the heat of an argument put them into practice.  Stop.  Breathe.  Return to the center.  Listen to your heart.  Let love guide you.
